XX411 Restoration #2

Here are the restoration photographs in reverse date order with the most recent at the top.

A big thank you to Bertie for supplying the photos and keeping us updated.

January - February 2007

The spray bay have worked wonders as the stripped fuselage shows. Ian the sprayer and his buddy Kevin reckon that most of the primer will be sprayed on by Friday and we can have it back by Monday to complete the metalwork repairs.

With one coat of paint so far the console looks a lot better. Most of this was done by one of my younger lads. He has done a fairly decent job I think. Next we will work on attaching the Console mounts and the anti-vibe mounts. Then the instrument panel itself.

After a few rivets and a coat of primer the console is looking a little better.

My willing band of helpers who dragged the tailboom off the DAF.

Another view of the stripped tail-boom.

The re-shaped rear end can clearly be seen here. We have various ideas on repairing and refitting a tailfin. We will decide on the best option when we get a tail-fin.

The tailboom is back in the Rubb hangar ready for repairs to be carried out. The spray bay did a very good job and even straightened some of the damage back into shape

The paint stripped tail-boom leaves the RAF spray bay.
