Sunday 3rd September - AeroVenture Flight Simulator Day
On Sunday 3rd September we are holding our annual Flight Simulator Day. The main idea of the day is to allow visitors to 'fly' flight simulators of our aircraft and then walk around / view the real aircraft in detail. Unlike many other museums, on open days like this you can get close to our exhibit aircraft and many of them have open cockpits so you can sit inside and take the controls.
Returning from last year is the DC-3 simulator where you can use full flight controls with a large projector screen. For realism we use DC-3 seats and instrument panel.

Most of the flight simulators are PC based however at AeroVenture we also have a restored Link Trainer which was used to train our pilots in the 1940's plus actual retired RAF Flight simulators for the Jetstream.

At 2pm there will be a talk about creating your own Flight Simulator 2004 aircraft and scenery, followed by a talk on how to create low-cost flight sim controls.

In keeping with our large display of helicopters we will also be operating this helicopter simulator. This was built using parts of a real helicopter to train students on the basics of helicopter operation.
Also on hand and looking out for budding new pilots is the RAF Careers team

The highlight of the day is a flypast from the Battle of Britiain Memorial Flight's (BBMF) Lancaster bomber at 15:20
An ideal day-out for the family, there are no extra charges for the Flight Simulator Day however normal museum entrance fees apply, we look forward to seeing you from 10:00 onwards, our shop will be open for snacks, drinks and is also fully stocked with models, books and DVD's.
If you want to bring along a flight simulator, or show your simulator add-on hardware or software please contact Jim Keable via email jim @ aeroventure.org.uk before the day
